18 years ago (27 April 1994), South Africa was freed from apartheid. To us South Africans this day is one of the most important days.
On this day Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela voted for the first time in his life. Before 27th of April 1994 many South African citizens were not allowed to vote. Blacks, coloreds and Indians were the ones who suffered the most from apartheid.
There were many people who had fought for Freedom in our country. Some of them did not live to see it, some did. We say thank you kuwo onke Amaqhawe na Maqhawekazi who fought for our Freedom.
I can not go anywhere without carrying a Dom-pass (sort of an ID) with me. I can now sit next to a white person without being questioned. I can now use the same public toilets, buses, trains, etc, that they use. I can go to the same schools and play the same sports with them.
On that day I was still in my mum’s tummy waiting for the 10th of July ;)
I’m proud to call myself a South African teen. I just love my country!!! ☺

A 21 year old guy had worn a pair of contact lenses during a barbecue party.(An event or meal at which food is cooked outdoors over an open grill or fire) While barbecuing he stared at the fire charcoals continuously for 2-3 minutes. After a few minutes, he started to scream for help and moved rapidly, jumping up and down. No one in the party knew why he was doing this?
Then he admitted into the Hospital, the doctor said he’ll be blind permanently because of the contact lenses that he had worn.
Contact lenses are made by plastics, and the heat from the charcoal melted his contact lenses.
DO NOT WEAR CONTACT LENSES WHERE OVERHEATING AND FLAMES ARE CONCERNED…. OR WHILE COOKING…!
